TAS: Boags hopes blunder won't end beer supplies

Launceston brewery Boags is confident that a brewing blunder won't affect supplies
of its beer, which has been winning a major share of the Melbourne and Sydney markets.

Boags director LYNDON ADAMS says that damage to a vital piece of equipment is not as
great as first feared.

While several days of engineering tests are still needed, he is confident that brewing
can resume late next week.

It was earlier feared that production could be stopped for up to nine months.

The blunder occurred on Tuesday when about eight tonnes of grain was poured into a
tank without the previous load being removed.

Mr ADAMS says the brewery had to wait 48 hours for the grain to cool before it could be removed.
