Fed: Swan says inflation remain risk to the economy

SYDNEY, Dec 5 AAP - Federal Treasurer Wayne Swan says higher inflation remains a key
risk to the economy and the government will take every step to reduce pressure on prices.

Mr Swan said today's gross domestic product data for the September quarter showed the
Australian economy was growing strongly.

But it also reflected the severity of the drought and underscored the government's
commitment to strict fiscal discipline.

The September quarter national accounts showed gross domestic product (GDP) grew by
a seasonally adjusted 1.0 per cent compared with a downwardly-revised 0.7 per cent in
the three months to June, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics data.
